The World Junior Championship features the top hockey players in the world under the age of 20. The tournament is being held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This year’s event began on December 25th and will conclude with the gold medal game on January 5th.

Logan Stankoven has been a key player for Team Canada so far at the World Junior Championship. He had two goals and an assist in Canada’s 6-3 quarterfinal win over Switzerland on Wednesday. With the win, Canada advances to the semifinals where they will face Finland on Friday.

Stankoven, who is eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft, has three goals and four assists in five games at the tournament. The 19-year-old from British Columbia has been impressive for Team Canada and will be key to their success as they look to win a gold medal at the World Junior Championship.

In the World Junior tournament, every game is crucial as teams battle for position in the standings and jockey for a better seed heading into the medal round. Canada has now won all five of its games and sits atop Group B with 15 points, three ahead of second-place Germany (4-0-1).

Logan Stankoven, who plays for the Western Hockey League’s Kelowna Rockets, led the way offensively with a goal and three assists. The 19-year-old has been one of Canada’s best players at the World Juniors, recording seven points (three goals, four assists) in five games.

Tyson Foerster, who plays for the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts, also had a big game offensively, scoring a goal and adding two assists. The 19-year-old has four points (two goals, two assists) in five games at the World Juniors.

Jack Thompson, Nathan Gaucher and Will Cuylle also scored goals for Canada. Ronan Seeley notched a pair of assists in the win. In goal, Canada’s Devon Levi was solid, making 23 saves to pick up the win.

With the victory, Canada has clinched a spot in the quarter-finals and can now focus on winning its group and getting a favourable draw in the medal round.
