What is the daily ration of the boxing star Anthony Joshua?
The answer, as always with the 31-year-old Londoner, is a lot of hard work in and out of the gym – but there are some other factors at play too.
In the case of Joshua, who stands an imposing 6ft 6in tall and weighs in at around 240lbs, it requires a punishing daily diet and workout regime.
Here, we take a look at what the IBF, WBA and WBO title holder consumes on a daily basis to maintain his rippling physique.
In the Instagram post last year, Joshua revealed that he starts his day with a 6am wake-up call followed by a cup of coffee, before hitting the gym for a two-hour session.
Breakfast
The 27-year-old told Men’s Health that he used to start his day with Weetabix, but has since swapped it out for porridge made with oats, almond milk and honey. He also eats eggs – either scrambled, poached or omelette – and drinks a protein shake.
Lunch
For his midday meal, Joshua will have salmon or chicken with vegetables. He told the publication that he avoids eating carbs at lunch as they make him feel “sluggish”. Lunch is usually chicken or fish with vegetables, while dinner is typically steak or salmon with more veggies.
Snacks
To keep his energy levels up, Joshua snacks on nuts, protein shakes and fruit throughout the day.
Dinner
The boxing champ told Men’s Health that he likes to eat a “heavy dinner” as it is the only time of day when he can really sit down and enjoy his food. His go-to meals include steak, lamb, rice and vegetables.
Dessert
Joshua has a sweet tooth and is partial to a slice of cheesecake or some ice cream. He told the publication that he tries to eat healthily “90 per cent” of the time, allowing himself the odd treat now and again.
Workout
As well as following a strict diet, Joshua also hits the gym hard. He told Forbes that he works out six days a week, and his sessions last for around two hours. His routine includes a mix of cardio, weightlifting and boxing. The champ also pays close attention to his recovery, spending an hour in the sauna or taking an ice bath after training.
Sleep
Joshua told Forbes that he tries to get around eight hours of sleep a night, as he finds it helps him to recover from his gruelling workouts.
So there you have it – the daily diet and workout routine of one of the world’s most successful boxers. It’s no wonder Joshua looks in such amazing shape! So there you have it: if you want to look like Anthony Joshua, be prepared to work hard – and eat a lot of food.
