After the Toronto Blue Jays rookie sensation plunked Aaron Judge (30) in the top of the third inning, Gio Urshela, Luke Voit and Jay Bruce all homered off Manoah to power the New York Yankees to an 8-3 victory Saturday night.

The win was the Yankees’ sixth in a row, and they improved to 18-6 on the season. It was also a statement by the Bronx Bombers, who let Manoah know that they weren’t going to take any mess from him after he hit their superstar slugger.

“Anytime you drill one of the best players in baseball, you’re going to get a response,” Bruce said. “We had to let him know that we’re not going to take that.”

“It’s part of the game,” Manoah said of the retaliation. “I understand why they did it. I’m not mad about it. I’m just glad nobody got hurt.”

The hit-by-pitch was clearly intentional, as Manoah had already plunked Giancarlo Stanton earlier in the game. But after Judge was hit, there was no doubt that the Blue Jays pitcher was throwing at the Yankees’ batters.

“It’s always frustrating when you get hit by a pitch, but I know it’s part of the game,” Judge said. “They were just trying to send a message.”

New York’s lead in the AL East was cut to one game over Boston, which won 5-4 in 10 innings at Baltimore. The Yankees began the day with a season-high 7½ -game cushion. “It was a big win for us,” manager Joe Girardi said. “We needed to come out of here with a series win.”

New York also got homers from Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner. Dellin Betances pitched the ninth for his seventh save in eight chances, completing a five-hitter by New York’s bullpen.

Chad Green (3-0) escaped trouble in the sixth and seventh innings, striking out four in two innings. “The guys did a great job, picked me up,” Green said. “I was able to make some pitches when I needed to.”

Aroldis Chapman retired Jose Bautista on a grounder with runners at the corners for his 18th save. Bautista, who homered twice, flied out with the bases loaded against Tyler Clippard in the eighth. “It was a very good road trip for us,” Bautista said. “We didn’t start it off the way we wanted to, but we picked it up.”

New York went 5-4 on its trip to Chicago, Toronto and Baltimore. The Yankees are off Monday before hosting the Red Sox for three games. “It was a good road trip,” Girardi said. “We played some really good teams.”

Aaron Sanchez (9-2) won his first five decisions, but has dropped two of his last three. He gave up four runs and eight hits in six-plus innings, struck out five and walked one.

Ellsbury connected in the first, Gardner led off the second with a drive to left-center and New York went up 3-1 in the third when Sanchez made an errant pickoff throw that allowed Starlin Castro to score from first.

Bautista hit a solo drive in the bottom half and Kendrys Morales made it 3-2 with an RBI grounder in the fourth. Betances walked Bautista leading off the eighth, but got Edwin Encarnacion to hit into a double play. After Betances loaded the bases on two walks, Chapman came in and retired Bautista on a grounder to first.

It was the second time in three games that Bautista homered twice against New York. He has nine homers and 21 RBIs in 18 career games at Rogers Centre against the Yankees.

“He’s just one of those guys, no matter what team he’s on, you’re going to have to deal with him,” Girardi said.

Benintendi connected off Joe Biagini (0-3) leading off the seventh, driving a 1-2 pitch deep to left field. It was the first homer allowed by Biagini in 34 innings this season.
