Wilson has been sensational, throwing for 940 yards and 11 touchdowns with just one interception while leading Seattle to a 3-0 start. On the Russell Wilson-led Seahawks, who have looked like one of the best teams in the NFL through three weeks, it’s been a different story.

That kind of production has some wondering if Wilson is the best quarterback in the NFL right now, and while Manning didn’t address that specifically on his podcast, he did heap praise on his fellow quarterbacks.

“I think Russell’s playing at an unbelievable level,” Manning said on the “ManningCast.” “I don’t know if there’s anybody playing better in the league right now. He’s making some unbelievable throws, he’s got great command of that offense.”

Manning also said that he believes the Seahawks made a mistake by not paying Wilson more when they had the chance, and that they should have given him the $235 million contract extension that the Packers gave to Aaron Rodgers earlier this offseason.

“I think the Seahawks, they should have paid that punter $235 million,” Manning said. “I don’t know what they were thinking not giving Russell Wilson that money.”

While it’s still early in the season, it’s clear that Manning is impressed with what he’s seen from Wilson so far, and he thinks that the Seahawks will be in for a long season if they don’t pay their quarterback what he’s worth.

“I don’t know what Russell Wilson makes, but they should have paid that punter $235 million,” Manning said. “Because he might have been the MVP of the game.”

Manning was referring to Sam Martin’s stellar night. The Broncos’ punter pinned the Seahawks inside their own 5-yard line four times — twice inside the 1 — and had a net average of 50 yards on eight punts.

Wilson, meanwhile, was limited to Russell-like numbers: 13-of-25 passing for 172 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for 31 yards on three carries. Manning said he was “disappointed” in Wilson’s performance.
